Definition of "Love Triangle"

Ah, the love triangle.  Most of you hate them, and I'm right there with you.  Mostly.  They seem to be everywhere and there's no escaping them.  Personally I want to fall hard for one love interest when I'm reading.  Does that mean I've never enjoyed a love triangle?  No, I definitely have, darn those authors.  I can name several books where I fell for both boys and it's heart-wrenching.  A well done love triangle is enough to make me cray-cray!  A poorly done triangle makes me throw books, which is not nice.

I've had a ton of people beg me not to put a love triangle in the Sweet Trilogy, and that makes me wonder . . . what do you constitute as a love triangle?  Because I think my definition is different from some of yours.

I think of a true love triangle as the main character being torn between two love interests, as in, he/she has feelings for both people and can see himself/herself with either one.  When a love triangle is present the character must choose, which means that the reader ends up picking sides and becoming Team 1 or Team 2, and heated arguing in the forums ensues.

Based on this definition, I don't consider there to be a love triangle in Sweet Evil, though I know many of you would disagree.  Now, I'm going to be honest and tell you that my editor ASKED me to write in a love triangle (resulting in me adding the scene where Anna sees Kope at the mall).  My editor wanted the extra tension of Anna having a second boy option, but I couldn't quite do it justice.  I agreed that Anna would have a second option in Kopano, that he would make his interest clear, but in my heart of hearts I could not bring myself to make Anna truly torn.  She loves Kaidan.  Is she attracted to Kopano?  Yes.  He's hot.  And intriguing, and intense, and loyal, and most importantly he's open about his feelings.  Could she picture herself with him?  Yes.  But only if Kai wasn't in the picture.

Why did I decide to make another hot boy interested in Anna?  Easy.  To force Kaidan's feelings to the surface.  He's a hard nut to crack, that Kai.  He hides.  He evades.  I needed a crafty way to make him to show something.  Plus, Kopano's character was too deliciously complex in my mind.  I wanted him to have his story, too.  And I love that he's willing to put it all out there and challenge Kaidan to do the same.

So what's in store for book two?  Well, you'll just have to trust me because these lips are sealed, teeheehee.  Okay, maybe some hints.  We'll see plenty of both K's.  And there will be tension.  Yummy, tantalizing romantic tension.  And kissing.  LOTS of kissing.  Let's just hope you won't be throwing your book before the best of the kissing takes place . . .

What's your definition of a love triangle?

Big, squishy hugs,

FLIRTING WITH MAYBE Cover Reveal & SWEET PERIL Teaser!

Oh my goodness, you guys!!!  What a crazy year it's been!  With all of the Sweet Trilogy business, my novella has sort of been brushed aside.  Here's the deal.  During the summer we weren't certain if the final two books in the Sweet Trilogy would be picked up.  When HarperTeen made an offer, everything happened really fast.  At the same time they made an offer for books 2 & 3, they told me about a new line they were starting called HarperImpulse - a line of short stories and novellas that would be available at discounted prices in ebook form. They asked if I'd be willing to contribute and I grinned and blubbered "YES" with lots of overwhelmed, goofy excitement.  I was asked to write a YA contemporary/realistic fiction piece separate from the Sweet Trilogy.

Since I didn't have much time to start from scratch, and edits for Sweet Peril were coming right around the corner, followed closely by the due date for book 3, I decided to use a short story I'd written in college.  Back then it was titled Toys because the main character, Ryan, gets toyed with by the older girl, Brooke, who gets toyed with by the older guys. But since that title sounded too picture-bookish, we decided on the title Flirting with Maybe.  I took the short story I'd written in college and lengthened it.  I had a blast being back with Ryan and Brooke.  The story is very different from what you're used to with me, as far as the writing style.  It's 3rd person point of view, and it's from Ryan's viewpoint.  Of course there's romance and longing and all that other mushy stuff you've come to expect from me, so I hope you'll check it out and enjoy it!

You should also know that the first chapter of Sweet Peril will be available at the end of the novella - BONUS!

The cover is sweet, cute, and adorable...basically everything that Ryan is.  I'm very pleased with it.  I only wish Ryan was wearing his signature baseball cap.  :)

Flirting with Maybe, coming March 5th, 2013 for $1.99

He was fifteen and she was seventeen.

When sophomore Ryan "The Kid" McPhearson makes the Varsity baseball team, he finds himself submersed in the life of upperclassmen and falling in love with senior Brooke Bennet.
To Ryan she's his dream girl, perfect.
Maybe to the outside world a two-year age difference doesn't matter, but this is high school.
Everything matters.

Ryan soon realizes Brooke's life is not so perfect. He becomes her closest friend, her safe place to fall when she needs to escape. Ryan seems to be benched in the friend zone with no chance to bat.

Time is both a curse and a blessing. It ushers Brooke away to college, and Ryan into the arms of his first girlfriend. It alters Ryan from a kid to a high school graduate, ready to venture to college himself. But when Ryan sees Brooke again he realizes there are some things even time can't touch.

Though much has changed, one question still remains. Will the things that mattered in high school continue to stand between them?

Fun, fun, fun!  :)  You can add it on Goodreads here.

And now, as promised...a Sweet Peril teaser.  Come on April 30th!  :)

*   *   *

(This is the first time Anna and Kai see each other after the New Year's summit in NYC.)

The look in his eyes dared me to pull away again. I sunk my fingers into the hair at the nape of his neck.
“I’m trying to talk to you,” I said.

“Yes, I know. But I’d rather not.”
In one step he had me against the table, the back of my thighs hitting the edge as he pressed his body flush against mine.
A whimpering gasp sounded from my lips.
I tried not to stutter, grasping his hair tighter. “I need you to be serious.”
His blue eyes scorched me. “Oh, I’ve never been more serious.”

*   *   *

Don't you fret. I will post more teasers between now and release date.

Hugs to you!  And remember...be nice this holiday season. Even to the grumpsters with ugly, gray auras.  Spread the love.

Posting Winners Soon!

Hi everyone!
I've closed entries for the giveaway - sorry if you didn't have a chance to enter, but I promise there will be future giveaways!
We had my daughter's choir performance tonight (which I wasn't taking into account when I said I would pick winners this evening.  And I've been sick with a terrible head cold the past five days.  So it might take me an hour or two, but I WILL post winners tonight!  And if no post goes up, it's because I passed out on the computer. At the very latest we'll have winners by tomorrow morning.
Much love - so excited!
Hugs,
Wendy

UPDATE:
It definitely won't be tonight, guys. I'm halfway through the entries and the cold meds are kicking in.  I want to be able to give this my full attention because all of your entries have been so thoughtful - you're making me super excited about this story world again, which I need, because I've found the writing of book three to be slightly intimidating.  Now I'm feeling all riled up to write more!  After I sleep, of course.  :)  xoxo
See you in the morning!  To be on the safe side, let's say I'll post the winners at noon, Eastern.

Also, I fear I've misled people about the bookmarks. The ones I'm giving away are regular bookmarks with my signature. The ones pictured are being sold, but I'm not giving those away because I don't have any of those awesome nickel bookmarks yet.  Sorry for the confusion!

Merry Christmas Giveaway!

I had a fabulous idea. I wanted to post the first chapter of my second book, Sweet Peril, here on my blog as a Christmas gift to my readers.  I was so stoked!  As always, I asked permission from my editor (she nearly always says yes to my harebrained schemes) but to my shock she said no, and here's why.  It turns out they've decided to put the first chapter at the end of my YA contemporary romance novella, Flirting with Maybe, which is being published as an ebook for $1.99 on March 5, 2013!  So I guess you'll have to check that out if you want to get a sneak peek.

To learn more about the upcoming novella, you can check it out on Goodreads. :)  I'm excited to see what cover those artists over at HarperTeen/HarperImpulse come up with!

The second thing I wanted to tell you about is a wonderful company called HebelDesign - it's run by a talented woman named Vivi Hebel, who handmakes jewelry inspired by books! That's right - she shares your love of reading and she's found a fabulously creative way to show it!  She's recently obtained rights to make the turquoise necklaces from Sweet Evil. Each pendant is different and unique, made from natural turquoise. I was so impressed and giddy that I bought two when I met Vivi at YALLFest in South Carolina last month!  I wear mine almost every day (it's hard because my puppy wants to eat it).  Vivi will also be making nickel bookmarks with inscriptions/quotes from Sweet Evil, along with an angel wing and piece of turquoise. You can even make a special request for a quote of your choice.  I could not be more in love!  Check these out!

GAH!  EEP!  Those quotes!!!

To visit her online store and place an order, click here.  You'll recognize many of the books that have inspired her beautiful pieces.  It's *possible* that if you place an order ASAP she can have it to you by Christmas, but because of the large number of recent orders she cannot guarantee holiday delivery. She's working hard and doing her best.  I love to see small businesses doing well.  :)

Now for the giveaway...
While my mom was visiting last month, she had a copy of Sweet Peril printed out at a copy shop (because she's my mom and my biggest fan, so she's lucky like that). The copy shop wanted to advertise some of their other services, so they also gave us the first twenty pages of the MS, bound. That's the table of contents, prologue, and almost all of chapter one.  I've decided to give that away, along with a Sweet Evil turquoise necklace, and five autographed bookmarks (for a total of seven winners)!  The Sweet Peril pages and necklace are US only, but the bookmarks are international.

What's up for grabs:

How to enter:

Between now and Sunday, December 9th, at 9:00PM Eastern, simply comment on this blog post with the following information...

~ Let me know 1) what you liked best about Sweet Evil/your fave scene, OR 2) what you'd like to see happen in the trilogy.  (As you can see, the contest is sort of geared toward fans/people who've already read book 1, because the sample pages from the sequel and the necklace won't mean much to the winner if they haven't read Sweet Evil, right?)  :)

~ Also state in your comment whether you're stateside/US or international. (If you don't state that you're US, you'll only be entered into the bookmark giveaway.)

FOR THOSE OF YOU READING THIS ON GOODREADS, PLEASE VISIT MY BLOG TO ENTER - COMMENTS RECEIVED ON GOODREADS DO NOT COUNT TOWARD THE GIVEAWAY - THANK YOU!

Winners will be picked at random and announced after 9PM Sunday, December 9th. If winners don't come forward within 24 hours to email me their address, a new winner will be chosen.

Thank you all so much for your love and support!  I wish I could send pressies to everyone.  But since I can't, how about I start sharing some hot little excerpts/teasers from Sweet Peril, eh?  I'll get right on that at the conclusion of this contest.  Promise.

Guest Post: Riley Gray!

A dear friend of mine who helps critique the "English/British" aspects of my books, recently surprised me by saying she'd decided to self-publish one of her YA novels.  I haven't even had a chance to read it yet! I'm definitely going to, and I hope you will too.  I've read other works by Riley, and love her style.  I'm thrilled to see the awesome reviews LACED IN MALICE is already receiving.

GUEST POST BY RILEY GRAY:

Why I chose to write LACED IN MALICE.
Do you know how much I wish I'd gone to boarding school when I was younger? Okay, do you know how much I wish I'd gone to HOGWARTS when I was younger? The creepy grounds and cold, but comfortable interior and the friends you make your family. I wanted it all. Alas, I had a simple and normal childhood with public schools and living at home and family meals.
Didn't mean I couldn't write about it, though!! That's what I wanted; to have that boarding school feeling. To have everything seem so much worse than it is because where most people could go home after school and get away from it, when you live at school, there is no getting away. It becomes everything you think about. Everything you do. Your peers are your family and if they hate you, then you have a problem.
I wanted to write something a little maturer too. For the mature reader who enjoyed reading YA. There are some sexual scenes in the book that stop just on the cusp of being explicit. But they are there. And so is the warning. The characters in Laced in Malice, go through a rollercoaster ride of emotions, and call me sick, but it was great fun writing it.
People have asked me why Zara was so naive and gulliable in the book. Why she believed her friends even though all the evidence was pointing towards a different answer. Well, think back to when you were in school. You're the new one. The one who is outcast right from the start. And somehow you manage to fall in with the popular crowd. You want to stay at the top, and that means letting go of your logic sometimes and ignoring the glaring warning signs. Zara isn't brave, or noble or perfect. And she will learn a good few lessons throughout the book.
But isn't that the point in growing up?
I really enjoyed writing this book. Describing the building and really delving into the evil that comes in the form of your peers. I hope you all enjoy reading it too.

Behind the creepy castle like exterior of Birchtree academy is the sound of gossip, back stabbing and malice. When Zara’s dad takes on the new principle job at the elite boarding school, Zara knows she’ll be an outsider. She dreams of true love and marriage instead of possible frenemies and secrets. Definitely not Birchtree material.

In the cusp of everything are the twins. Oliver and Elizabeth (Lizzie) Nixon are renowned for their different – yet equally effective – methods of torture. And both have their eyes set on goody, goody Zara. Oliver wants to date her and Lizzie wants to befriend her?

At first, Zara is caught in the Nixons spell, but it’s not long until cracks begin to show through their dazzling façade. An anonymous email account, which targets students with their own secrets, has focused its energy on Zara using weapons only the Nixon’s could have provided. But have they turned on her? Is there a hidden agenda behind Lizzie’s interest in Zara? It’ll take four months, three warnings, two released sex tapes, and one dead body for Zara to                 finally learn the truth. And the truth can either destroy the boy she’s fallen for – and his twin sister –
or save them both.

Sweet Evil Audiobook: Interview with Narrator

The SWEET EVIL audiobook is now available!  My copy is on its way, and I can't wait to hear it.  I adore the voice actress who narrated it, Erin Mallon.  We found each other right away when the process began, and we've kept in touch.  Erin won me over immediately when she began asking for my input about pronunciations and dialects. Her enthusiasm was catchy.  We decided to do an interview for release day so everyone could learn a bit about her, the narration process, and her thoughts on SWEET EVIL.  I'm so impressed by her, personally and professionally.

~ Hi Erin! Tell us a little about yourself and your career path.

I am a theater and voice actor working in NYC.  I work primarily on new plays and love being part of their development.  I am in awe of great writing, so to be able to work closely with playwrights and fantastic authors (such as YOU) and bring their stories to life, whether onstage or in the booth, is a real gift.  I love writers so much that I started a monthly new play-generating project called The Brooklyn Generator, where we gather 6 playwrights and 12 actors once a month to create and perform new plays in less than 2 days.

~ Have you narrated any other audiobooks?

Yes indeed!  YA fiction is by far my favorite genre to narrate.  YA allows you to swim around in stories where characters are experiencing some of life’s big emotions and obstacles for the first time, which is such fun for an actor to revisit and explore.  Romance novels are also a ridiculously enjoyable experience.  Right now I’m narrating a 4-book romance series following the lives and loves of four angsty cowboy brothers on a ranch in Texas.

~ What was it like being the voice of Anna?

I love this girl!  As someone who grew up rather religious and with an abundance of “good girl” qualities, I can relate to her in about a million ways.  It was a delicate balance capturing Anna’s voice.  When narrating accented characters, especially central characters, I find that less is usually more.  You have to keep in mind that someone will be listening to you talk for 12 hours in some instances, so if you go too far with the dialect the listener’s ears can tire of it quickly.  In Anna’s case, you helped me tremendously when you said “ I keep thinking Reese Witherspoon in ‘Sweet Home Alabama’ but softer.”

~ Did you have difficulty with any scenes or character voices?

You put a lot of accents in this story, my friend!  Lemme see… we touched on a variety of British and American Southern dialects, French, German, Italian, Australian, Malawian, the tried-and-true California “surfer guy” accent, and… have I missed any?  In all seriousness, this is the kind of challenge I really dig though!  Part of the magic of narrating audiobooks is you get to play as all sorts of characters that no casting director in their right mind would ever cast you in onstage.  For example, would I ever be considered to play a young man from Africa with a soft Malawian accent?  How about an imprisoned, gruff, raspy-voiced demon guy?  Probably not.  Speaking of gruff, raspy-voiced demons, Anna’s father was described as exactly that.  I had a blast voicing him, and yet I had to be conscious to not to go overboard and stress out my throat.  Male characters of the gruff variety can be harsh on the ‘ol vocal cords if one’s not careful.

~ Which was your favorite character?

Is Kaidan too obvious an answer?  I mean who doesn’t love Kaidan? I also found myself very drawn to Kopano.  I found that the sharp contrast between how Kaidan and Kopano operate in the world felt so real and juicy.  It made a world of sense to me that (potential spoiler alert!) Anna would feel a pull in both their directions.

As I was reading the book for the first time (I like to give books two solid reads before stepping into the booth), I was reminded of what a friend told me when she was reading a series she really loved.  “Ohmygod Erin,” she said. “It’s so good that when you’re not reading it, you’re wondering what the characters are up to!”  I’m not embarrassed to say I felt the same way with Sweet Evil.  You’ve created vibrant, fully fleshed-out people (each of whom have such a distinct way of expressing themselves) that my job felt incredibly easy!  Sometimes as a narrator you find yourself working hard to create character voices to ensure the listener can follow easily. But in the best possible scenarios, you can relax and trust that the writing will make the choices for you.  And when the characters start talking through you?  Oh man, that’s when the process becomes a real thrill - for the narrator for sure, and most importantly (we always hope) for the listener.

Thank you so much for stopping by, Erin!  :-)

Cover Reveal: WICKED FATE

Since I started this writing journey three years ago, I've met so many wonderful, talented people in different stages of the publication process. The author I'm featuring today is someone I met while on inkpop. I'm thrilled to introduce you to Tabatha Vargo and her book, Wicked Fate

AUTHOR BIO:

Tabatha has been writing since she could pick up a pencil. Her first publication was a little poem in her elementary school paper, from that point on she was hooked. When she was a teenager, she traded in her girly magazines for personalized writing notebooks.

At nineteen, she met her own personal prince charming and writing took a back burner for a while. She is now married to that prince and the mother of a beautiful Six year old princess/rock star. Once her daughter was born, writing came back into her life, and she finished her very first novel in May of 2009.

She is pursuing a Bachelors in English and hopes to one day teach while continuing to write.

As a stay-at-home mom and full-time student, Tabatha enjoys the freedom of spending a good bit of her days doing what she loves the most…writing.

BOOK BLURB:

What if you lived in fear of yourself?

For Mage McPherson being afraid of herself is just the norm. Thanks to that fear, being a loner in a small town never bothered the mysterious Mage. Once she received her secret abilities, she figured being alone was the safest way to be. That all changes during her sophomore year at Summerville High when Adam, her equally mysterious secret crush, starts to notice her.

Afraid that she might harm Adam, Mage must learn to either control or deny herself. With Adam by her side she's more powerful than she’s ever been, but is she powerful enough to defeat her worst nightmare? She learns a hard lesson about love and magic when her destiny comes to collect.

I haven't had a chance to read this yet, but I read some of Tabby's other work on inkpop and she's a fab writer!  I wish her the best of luck, and I hope you'll check her out!  Here are some ways:

Cover Reveal: SWEET PERIL

YES!  This is my favorite part of the whole journey to publication.  I love, love, love seeing the new covers!  It makes me HYPER, guys.  I've been hard to live with for the past two days, absent-minded and goofy with excitement.  Not to mention trying to set up a last minute cover reveal.  Whew! But bloggers are awesome, and they roll with it.

I could continue to babble, but I know why you came here, so let's just get down to it, shall we?

Sweet Peril is my second book, the sequel to Sweet Evil, and it's the second book in the Sweet Trilogy.

Sweet Peril is slated to release on April 30th, 2013.

A little insider info: Sweet Peril picks up six months after Sweet Evil ends, right after the end of Anna's junior year of high school.

Blurb:

Anna Whitt, daughter of a guardian angel and a demon,
promised herself she’d never do the work of her father—polluting souls.
She’d been naive to make such a claim.
She’d been naive about a lot of things.

Haunted by demon whisperers, Anna does whatever she can to survive,
even if it means embracing her dark side and earning
an unwanted reputation as her school’s party girl.
Her life has never looked more bleak.
And all the while there’s Kaidan Rowe, son of the Duke of Lust,
plaguing her heart and mind.

When an unexpected lost message from the angels surfaces,
Anna finds herself traveling the globe with Kopano, son of Wrath,
in an attempt to gain support of fellow Nephilim
and give them hope for the first time.
It soon becomes clear that whatever freedoms Anna
and the rest of the Neph are hoping to win will not be gained without a fight.
Until then, Anna and Kaidan must put aside the issues between them,
overcome the steamiest of temptations yet,
and face the ultimate question:
is loving someone worth risking their life?

And Now For the Pretty...

The Sultry

The Dark

The Fierce

Yep, those are the same models.  :)  I love that the dress is beautiful, but it's not the focus of the picture. Her face is. And what a face!  RAWR, Anna!

I LOVE IT SO MUCH, and here's why: It captures the tone of the story so perfectly, in so many ways. I cannot wait for you to read it.

Cover Reveal: Shadow of the Mark

I had the privilege of reading the follow-up to Carrier of the Mark last year as one of Leigh's critique partners.  Very rarely do I find a sequel to be even better than the first, but this is one of those times! I'm so excited to read the final draft because I know it's changed a bit since I read it.  I hope you'll all check it out!

Author Leigh Fallon bio:

I started out life in South Africa. A year later my parents moved home to Dublin, Ireland. When I was older and realized my parents had moved me from exotic Durban, to sedate Rathfarnham, Dublin 16, I was rightly ticked off.

Giving up lions for sheep, I grew up in the foothills of the Dublin Mountains where I went to a convent school and had to contend with uniforms, gabardines, and nuns. When not dodging the beady glare of  the Sisters of Mercy, I was devouring every book I could get my hands on.

I traveled all over Europe while working in banking and treasury, but I gave up my calculator in favor of a keyboard and haven't stopped writing since. My first book, Carrier of the Mark, was published by HarperTeen in 2011.

Our home is in Cork in the south of Ireland, but we're currently on loan to Massachusetts in the US where I continue to write books about magic, ghosts, and romance, with a bit of Irish flavor.

And now for the PRETTY!!!!!

Book Blurb:

Life for Megan Rosenberg just got a lot more complicated.

While she evoked the air element, and her feelings for Adam intensified, a web of lies, deceit, and betrayal has been spun around  her.  With the Order tightening its hold, and the reinstatement of the Mark Knights, Megan has more questions than  answers as the Marked Ones grow in strength.

New people arouse suspicion, the DeRises start behaving strangely, and Megan begins to unravel a destiny shrouded in mystery.   It's a destiny the Order has struggled to hide,
and a destiny someone from the past--far in the past, has already laid claim to.

Alliances will be made, and friends will be lost, as the Order's dark secrets are revealed by the very thing they sought to destroy.

Halloween Booktacular

Happy October, everyone!

I'm taking part in a Halloween Character Booktacular, and I've decided to write the Halloween scene from Kaidan's point of view!  Kaidan will retrace his steps back to that final night in L.A. with Anna on the road trip, so we'll be diving deeper into his mind than ever before. I hope you will enjoy it, because it will be the last Kai scene I'll get to write for a while.  I'm deep into edits for book two (Sweet Peril), soon-to-be edits on a contemporary novella ebook (Toys), and beginning writing book three (Sweet Reckoning).  Eeeep!!!

You can visit the wonderful Savannah's blog, Books With Bite, to read the exclusive Halloween scene, and win signed Sweet Evil bookmarks!  After this event I will make the scene available here on my blog as well.  :)

Also, here is the newly revised cover for the Halloween Kai scene.  :)

More News!

Could September 2012 rock any harder???  Wow, you guys!  I just got some fantastic news from my editor at Harper...

First of all, to keep the momentum of the series going, the publication date of Sweet Book #2 is being pushed up from Winter to Summer 2013!!!  I'm so thrilled!  I'll let you know as soon as we have a set date.

In other fun news, Sweet Evil is being made into an audiobook, which will be available November, 13, 2012!  The reader will be Erin Mallon.  I couldn't be more excited!!!

October 5th the next Kai POV chapter will be posted!  Here's some information about it on Goodreads!

And lastly I have the official titles for books two and three of The Sweet Trilogy!!!  They wanted a dichotomy between the words, sticking to the "Sweet" theme, but not have it sound too "adult romance novel-esque."  I'm very happy with the final decision.  So here you have it, friends...

The Sweet Trilogy - NEWS!!!

Yesterday was a fun day for me.  (EEEEEKKK!!!!)  I bounced around the house kissing my children and laughing like a lunatic.

First off, I've had my very first foreign sale - to Albatros Publishing in the Czech Republic!!!  Aahhhh!!!  And I have a special message to my Czech readers (thank you Vendula Dvořáčková for the translation):

*     *     *

Zdravìm vsechny ceske ctenare! Uz se nemuzu dockat, az si budete moci precist Sweet Evil ve vasem materskem jazyce. Dekuji za vasi podporu! Kniha vyjde u nakladatelstvi Albatros (zatim neni zname datum vydani).

*     *     *

There's something extremely thrilling about knowing my words will be translated into another language and made available to another culture on the other side of the world. It makes me weepy just thinking about it.

And speaking of weepy...I've made my very first vlog. For you. To announce my news...this was my first take, and though it's a little embarrassing and taken at a bad angle, it shows how I feel, so here ya go.

I promise to announce news as I get it.  Feel free to ask questions in the comments, and I will answer all of them.

Cover Reveal: CHARADE by Nyrae Dawn

My great friend, Nyrae Dawn, writes YA and adult romance (adult stories are under the name Kelley Vitollo), and now we have her first NA or "New Adult" novel!  I'm dying to read this one, and plan to very soon.  It releases November 30th, 2012.

Blurb:
Nineteen-year-old Cheyenne tries to portray the perfect life to mask the memories of her past. Walking in on her boyfriend with another woman her freshman year in college threatens her picture of perfection.
Twenty-one-year-old Colt never wanted college and never expected to amount to anything, but when his mom's dying wish is for him to get his degree, he has no choice but to pretend it’s what he wants too.
Cheyenne needs a fake boyfriend to get back at her ex and Colt needs cash to take care of his mom, so they strike a deal that helps them both. But what if Cheyenne’s past isn’t what she thought? Soon they’re trading one charade for another. The game and the emotions building between them become the only things either of them have that feels real.
Both Cheyenne and Colt know life is never that easy. When tragedy strikes, their love might not be enough to hold them together.

I Now Present...Your Kaidan Fix!

Hello beauties!

First, my news.  SWEET HOPE is being brought to the acquisition board at HarperCollins tomorrow!  That means we will have a definite yes or no very soon.  :-)  Thank you for your support and patience during this process.

And now for the goodie I promised you during the YA Crush Tourney...a scene from Kaidan's POV!!!  After deliberating all summer, I was inspired to write the first chapter from his viewpoint--the moment where Kai and Anna see one another for the first time, and then meet.  As you can imagine, being in Kai's head is very different than being in Anna's.  He's dodgy when it comes to feelings, refusing to admit things, even to himself.  His mind is not exactly the cleanest place to hang out, either, so be warned (teehee).  If you are offended by sexual commentary and cursing, you should probably sit this one out.  I managed to write SWEET EVIL without any "major" cuss words, but I did not want to censor Kai here.

LUCKY BREAK: An Adult Romance

Like me, I know many of my readers enjoy adult romance, so I wanted to share a new line of books from Entangled called Bliss. My great friend Kelley Vitollo is being published under this line with her heartwarming story, Lucky Break!  Enjoy.  :)

One lucky break is all struggling actress Sidney Williams needs. But when living the LA life becomes too much, she heads back to the small town of Shamrock Falls for the vacation she needs to get her life on track—and immediately runs into Kade Mitchell, her former best friend and the boy next door she’s always regretted leaving behind.

Kade, the new owner of Lucky’s—once the most popular bar in Shamrock Falls—is determined to bring the place back to its former glory, and seeing Sidney again is a distraction he doesn’t need. Sure, the chemistry between them is explosive, but Kade can’t let himself fall into a fling with his best friend—not when he knows she’s soon heading back to the glitter of Tinseltown.

Now, with the possibility of her first major acting role looming, Sidney must decide if her lucky break is in Hollywood or right where she left it—in Shamrock Falls.

Cool Contest & Blog Tour! Get YOUR Name in SWEET HOPE

The beautiful Danny at Bewitched Bookworms came to me last month offering to host the most incredible blog contest.  It's been going on all month, and though I've been Tweeting and posting about it on Facebook, I really want to get this information out there because there are only FIVE MORE DAYS TO ENTER before round one of voting begins.  Eeep!  Fans are being given an opportunity to have a character from the Sweet Evil sequel named after them!  I have a few secondary characters in mind...all I need is a name!

All you have to do is design a mock-up cover for the sequel, Sweet Hope.  It's just for fun, of course.  You don't need to have design experience.  Just find an non-copyrighted picture and use something like picmonkey.com to add text.  What do you have to lose?  :-)

Here is the contest link! Come check out the entries so far, and get yours in right away!

BLOG TOUR:
I'm feeling the love these days, guys.  Along with Danny's contest, I had the sweet Amber from Fall Into Books approach me with a request to host a blog tour to amp sales for Sweet Evil as a way to help the sequel get picked-up.  I was floored by the number of people who signed up to be part of this event!  Check here for the tour dates. There are TONS of fun interviews with our boy, Kai.  :-)

Good luck, and big hugs,
